Autism & ADHD Evaluations
for Women
Compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming evaluations for the women the system missed.
Why so many women are missed
For decades, autism and ADHD were understood almost entirely through how they show up in boys. The research, the checklists, and the stereotypes were built around a version that often looks nothing like the reality for women.
So the girls who coped, who achieved, who quietly struggled and masked their way through, slipped through the cracks. Many of them are only now, in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond, discovering the truth.
If that's you, you are not too late.
What an evaluation can give you
A diagnosis is not a label. It is an explanation. For many women, it is the first time their entire life makes sense.
An evaluation can offer:
- Clarity about why things that seem easy for others have felt so hard for you
- Language to understand yourself and describe your needs
- Self-compassion in place of a lifetime of self-blame
- A path forward, with strategies and support that actually fit how your brain works
- Validation that you were never broken, or lazy, or failing. You were unsupported.
Why have your evaluation with me
I'm Dr. Joanne Patterson, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Board-Certified Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse. I evaluate women for autism and ADHD with the depth, patience, and cultural understanding this deserves.
This is not a rushed, fifteen-minute checklist. Together we take the time to understand your full history, your lived experiences, and the way you move through the world. You will be listened to, believed, and treated as the expert on your own life.
And because I am also a prescriber and board certified advanced practice holistic nurse, your care does not end at the evaluation. If you want support afterward, whether that is medication, botanical and lifestyle approaches, or a thoughtful blend of both, it stays in one trusted pair of hands. Mine.
What your evaluation involves
A meaningful evaluation is more than a questionnaire and a quick conversation. Mine is a thorough, careful process that looks at you from several angles, so your results are accurate, personal, and something you can trust.
Your evaluation includes:
A clinical interview. We talk, unhurried, about your history, your experiences, and the way you move through daily life. This is where your story is heard in full, not squeezed into a checklist.
Self-report questionnaires. You complete validated questionnaires that capture your own perspective on your traits, challenges, and strengths, in your own words.
Standardized assessments. I use established, evidence-based assessment tools designed to measure the specific traits associated with autism and ADHD, so your evaluation rests on more than impression alone.
Neurocognitive testing. We look at how your brain actually processes, focuses, and functions through objective testing, adding a deeper, measurable layer to the full picture.
Together, these pieces build a complete and nuanced understanding of you. Not a snapshot, but a real portrait. You are seen from every angle, by someone paying close attention.

FAQs
Questions women often ask
Do I need a written report?
Are evaluations done over telehealth?
What happens after my evaluation?
What if I am not sure I am "autistic enough" or "ADHD enough"?
Is the evaluation affirming?
A note if you're nervous
It is okay to feel unsure about seeking an evaluation. Many women worry they are imagining it, or that they are just looking for an excuse. Please hear this: wanting to understand yourself is reason enough. There is no wrong way to arrive here, and there is no version of you that is too subtle, too capable, or too late to be worth understanding.
You have spent long enough wondering. Let's find your answers, together.
