  • Autism & ADHD Evaluations

    for Women

Compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming evaluations for the women the system missed.

    BOOK YOUR EVALUATION
  • Why so many women are missed

For decades, autism and ADHD were understood almost entirely through how they show up in boys. The research, the checklists, and the stereotypes were built around a version that often looks nothing like the reality for women.

So the girls who coped, who achieved, who quietly struggled and masked their way through, slipped through the cracks. Many of them are only now, in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond, discovering the truth.

If that's you, you are not too late.

What an evaluation can give you

A diagnosis is not a label. It is an explanation. For many women, it is the first time their entire life makes sense.

    An evaluation can offer:

    - Clarity about why things that seem easy for others have felt so hard for you

    - Language to understand yourself and describe your needs

    - Self-compassion in place of a lifetime of self-blame

    - A path forward, with strategies and support that actually fit how your brain works

    - Validation that you were never broken, or lazy, or failing. You were unsupported.

Why have your evaluation with me

I'm Dr. Joanne Patterson, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Board-Certified Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse. I evaluate women for autism and ADHD with the depth, patience, and cultural understanding this deserves.

This is not a rushed, fifteen-minute checklist. Together we take the time to understand your full history, your lived experiences, and the way you move through the world. You will be listened to, believed, and treated as the expert on your own life.

And because I am also a prescriber and board certified advanced practice holistic nurse, your care does not end at the evaluation. If you want support afterward, whether that is medication, botanical and lifestyle approaches, or a thoughtful blend of both, it stays in one trusted pair of hands. Mine.

  • What your evaluation involves

A meaningful evaluation is more than a questionnaire and a quick conversation. Mine is a thorough, careful process that looks at you from several angles, so your results are accurate, personal, and something you can trust.

    Your evaluation includes:

Session 1: A clinical interview. We talk, unhurried, about your history, your experiences, and the way you move through daily life. This is where your story is heard in full, not squeezed into a checklist.

Self-report questionnaires. You complete validated questionnaires that capture your own perspective on your traits, challenges, and strengths, in your own words.

Session 2: Standardized assessments. Trained in autism assessments at the Emory Autism Center, I use established, evidence-based assessment tools, designed to measure the specific traits associated with autism and ADHD, so your evaluation rests on more than impression alone.

Session 3: Computerized neurocognitive testing. We look at how your brain actually processes, focuses, and functions through objective testing, adding a deeper, measurable layer to the full picture.

Session 4: Feedback Session: A dedicated appointment where we go through your results together, in plain language, with time for your questions. We cover what the assessments found, how it fits your history, what it explains and what it does not, and what you might want to do with it. Bring a support person if you would like one. Your full written report follows.

Together, these pieces build a complete and nuanced understanding of you. Not a snapshot, but a real portrait. You are seen from every angle, by someone paying close attention.

A written report provides formal documentation of your evaluation and findings, which many women choose for their own clarity, for workplace or academic accommodations, or to share with other providers. If you are unsure whether you need the written report, we can talk through it together before you decide.

  • FAQs

    Questions women often ask

Do I need a written report?

The written report is included with every evaluation, so this is really a question about whether you will use it.

Most women do. The report is what you hand to a human resources department requesting workplace accommodations, a university disability office, a testing accommodation board, a therapist, or the next clinician you see. It documents your history, the instruments used, the findings, and the reasoning behind them, in language written to be read by people outside this office.

Some women want it simply for themselves, as something concrete after years of wondering. That is a good enough reason too.

You will receive it either way.

    Are evaluations done over telehealth?

Yes. Your evaluation is conducted through secure, private telehealth, so you can be somewhere you feel comfortable and at ease. For many neurodivergent women, being in their own space makes the whole process feel safer and more honest.

    What happens after my evaluation?

You will receive clear findings and a conversation about what they mean for you. From there, the next steps are yours to choose. If you would like ongoing support, I can provide it directly, whether that involves medication, holistic and botanical approaches, lifestyle strategies, or a combination. Nothing gets handed off to a stranger.

What if I am not sure I am "autistic enough" or "ADHD enough"?

This is one of the most common worries women bring, and it is welcome here. Wanting to understand yourself is reason enough to come. There is no version of you that is too subtle, too high-functioning, or too late to be worth understanding.

    Is the evaluation affirming?

Yes, completely. This is neurodiversity-affirming care. You will never be treated as a problem to be fixed. The goal is understanding, self-compassion, and support that fits how your brain actually works.

    Do you offer payment plans?

    Yes, at no additional cost.

You can spread your evaluation across three to four payments with no interest, no financing charges, and no administrative fees. The first payment is your deposit at booking, and the remaining payments are scheduled monthly, with the final one due before your feedback session.

Select the payment plan at booking, or call us at 844-286-WELL and we will set it up with you.

What is the deposit, and is it refundable?

A $500 deposit reserves your evaluation. It is applied toward your total, not charged on top of it.

If you cancel seven or more days ahead, it is refunded in full, or moved to your new date if you would rather reschedule. Between three and seven days, $250 is retained. Inside seventy two hours, or if you do not attend, the deposit is retained.

We are not trying to be difficult about this. Evaluation appointments are two to three hours long and cannot be filled on short notice, so a late cancellation means the time is simply lost. Giving what notice you can is what keeps availability open for everyone.

What if I cannot afford this right now?

Call us at 844-286-WELL before you decide against it.

Between payment plans, health savings and flexible spending funds, and possible out-of-network reimbursement, the real cost is often different from the number on the screen. A short conversation is free, and we would rather have it than have you close the tab.

  • A note if you're nervous

It is okay to feel unsure about seeking an evaluation. Many women worry they are imagining it, or that they are just looking for an excuse. Please hear this: wanting to understand yourself is reason enough. There is no wrong way to arrive here, and there is no version of you that is too subtle, too capable, or too late to be worth understanding.

You have spent long enough wondering. Let's find your answers, together.
